From the editor:
We expect some of the opinions voiced here will stir some controversy — even some hard feelings, so here are a few ground rules for ourselves, as well as you, the comment writer.
We’ll make every attempt to separate editorial opinion from facts and analysis. You can expect to see our opinions regularly on the home page, because that’s the purpose of this website. Most of the other pages are supporting material and information of interest. If our opinion appears other than the front page, we’ll make an effort to label it so.
Our editorial opinions will be confined to issues without name-calling or attacking specific people based on personalities, associations or other issues that don’t pertain to the subject at hand. Sometimes it’s not easy to make the distinction, but I expect those who comment here to try to do the same.
We value your input, even if your opinion differs from ours. We require each commentator to identify him or herself, and first-time comments must be approved by the editor before they will appear. We reserve the right to edit or discard any comment that is profane, libelous, engages in unproductive name-calling, is otherwise in poor taste, or is completely off-subject.
Our hope is that these few ground rules will result in facts, analysis, sound reasoning and a robust discussion of issues.
